2007 State Trail Ride
The State 4-H Competitive Trail Ride was held in Cumberland county. The 25 mile ride had to be completed in between 4 and 4 1/2 hours and included 15 judged obstacles.
8 counties were represented by 42 riders. The Monmouth team included first time riders Olivia on Tique and Kacie on Bambi, veterans Christin on Apollo and Jessica on TJ and team captain, Diana on Denny.
The team has been practicing together since early spring, learning about conditioning their mounts, navigating obstacles, competitive trail ride rules, vital signs, ride strategy and managing their horses.
The entire team completed the ride with sound and healthy horses, a true accomplishment in itself. In addition, the members each earned awards in almost every category topped off with a blue ribbon for Jessica as Best Senior Rider and the 4th place ribbon for High Point Team
